main jo karti, wo kyu karti is an experimental theatrical folk musical created with women folk musicians from diverse communities across rajasthan. developed through an intensive residential workshop process, the project creates a space for reflection, expression, friendship, and artistic exploration among women whose creative aspirations often remain invisible or unsupported within their social contexts.

the workshops themselves are as important as the final performance — offering a rare opportunity for participants to share personal histories, memories, dreams, humour, and artistic identities through conversation, music, and theatre. bringing together women artists from both rural and urban backgrounds, the project became an exercise in collective listening and collaborative world-building.

as the sound designer for the production, i developed a live-coded sonic language using sonic pi, creating soundscapes that responded to the emotional, theatrical, and cinematic sensibilities of the work. collaborating closely with filmmaker and director Suruchi Sharma, i explored how livecoding could become part of a contemporary theatrical vocabulary rooted in the voices, experiences, and musical traditions of rajasthan.
