inspired by the concept of the dérive, code.drift is an ongoing artistic, pedagogical, and community practice developed through ajaibghar that explores how creative technology can emerge from place, culture, and collective experience.

participants begin not with software, but with walking—drifting through cities, neighbourhoods, markets, parks, and everyday environments while listening, observing, recording, and collecting fragments of urban life.

these experiences become the raw material for live-coded audio-visual performances created collaboratively using open-source tools such as sonic pi, hydra, p5.js, and strudel.

typically performed in pairs by sound and visual artists, code.drift treats cities not as backdrops but as collaborators, transforming local rhythms, memories, and stories into immersive digital experiences.

through workshops, performances, games, and travelling formats such as code.yatra, the practice continues to investigate how technology, community, and artistic play can become tools for listening to and reimagining the places we inhabit.
